You need to put in a lot of effort to meet the set standards. It is not all about just populating it with data and meeting the word count condition. One has to arrange the information in a logically way that makes sense. The first thing that invites your attention is to write powerful abstract followed by making the title page. While deciding your title use words carefully. Your title must have strong impact on the reader. Acknowledgement and dedication must come before the Table of Contents section.
Typically dissertations comprise of following chapters
Once you have finished your conclusion section and have done the proof reading start spending good time on finalizing your list of references. This part of the dissertation can act as a savior. Any secondary data that is not properly referenced can lead to plagiarism.
Appendices can be of great help to control your word count limit. It further helps you in arranging data in the most appropriate way. At times you come across data which can provide you additional understanding of the topic area. However, you don’t want to add a lot in the literature review section. In such a scenario appendices can help you to put information in the appendix section and you can refer to it in the main body.

Writing a PhD level proposal can be an extremely daunting task for prospective students especially if they are yet to select their topic of research. A good PhD dissertation topic cannot be found and chosen overnight. It will require students to perform days and even months of research just to find research gaps in the existing literature available in their field of study. If you are itching to secure admission in reputed research institute in the UK then you will not only need to choose an intriguing research topic but also prepare a research proposal to the highest possible standard. University supervisors expect PhD applicants to possess exceptional research writing skills and abilities, and therefore if you are going to pursue your doctorate degree you might as well want to polish and improve your writing skills or get help from expert PhD proposal writer. Nonetheless, this article aims to address the problems you might come across when writing a PhD level proposal for the first time in your life. It should be noted that the art of writing winning proposals takes time to perfect, and therefore you should not feel any shame in hiring a research proposal help service if you think that you will mess up the job.
The Six Step Research Proposal Writing Process
According to studies performed by various academicians and analysts, a researcher needs to follow a simple six step process to produce a high quality research proposal to secure their position with the desired educational institute.
An appropriate working title
P.S: A good research proposal is vitally important to the outcome of the application process. If you are struggling with your research proposal writing and wish that you could obtain help from any reputed PhD proposal service in UK then my advice would be to not waste a single minute of your time and contact a dissertation proposal writing service.
Depending on how good or bad your writing abilities are, dissertations can be either a painful or exciting experience. Both undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students are required to complete dissertation writing project as part of their degree programmes. If you have already been handed your dissertation project then it can be helpful to understand which parts of the paper can challenge you and which of them will be like a walk in the park. I have been associated with the student writing service for long enough to confirm that Literature Review is the most exciting chapter of a dissertation paper. However, before you can start working on the Literature Review chapter you will have to choose a research topic that interests you to the point where you seek more and more information to gain in-depth knowledge of the current issues in your chosen area of study.
Structure of Dissertation
Let’s briefly discuss structure of a dissertation before moving onto the Literature Review chapter and the requirements pertaining to that. A dissertation usually consists of six to seven chapters. You start with an introduction to the research problem you are required to address before carrying out detailed review of the available literature. In most cases, methodology will be the third section of your paper. Under this chapter, you will be telling your audience what research methods you used to find answer to the question you were set. Any research limitations are also presented in this chapter. The fourth chapter will be the analysis of the data you collected whilst performing primary and secondary research. Data should be analysed with the help of some statistical analysis tool such as Microsoft Excel or SPSS.
The results and discussions chapter follows the analysis chapter and this is where your ability to express yourself as a writer, your opinions and arguments will be evaluated by your supervisor. Your understanding of the research question and solution you proposed will be critiqued and thus this chapter can be categorized as the most pivotal section of your dissertation. If you find yourself struggling with discussion, analysis or conclusion then consider contacting any reputed dissertation writing service in UK. Here is one great essay writing service in UK that I know of. Close out your paper with the conclusions chapter where you present concrete arguments based on evidence only. Finally, all academic sources used to complete the paper are listed in the References section of the paper.
Why I Think Literature Review is Exciting
Literature Review is the chapter where you set out to find answers to unknown questions. You look for relevant references both online and in university library. The existing literature takes the form of text books, journal articles, online research papers and thesis/dissertation on similar topics completed by other students in the past. It becomes easier and easier for you to find the necessary information and group it under one chapter in a structural and flowing manner, especially if the topic is something that interests you. In my experience, half of the battle is won if you have produced a well-rounded literature review with data obtained from a large number of reference resources. So if you have just started working on your dissertation or going to start it anytime soon then you need not to worry about the challenging aspects of it rather you should be glad to know that the project will bring about some excitement too.
Noting the importance of dissertation writing in undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses, a large number of students benefit from online dissertation writing service. However, it is legal to buy such a service? I have been associated with student writing industry for the last 5 years and I have come to conclusion that although essay writing services are ethically wrong, they help students to significantly improve their academic writing skills. Writing is an art and without having the necessary writing skills and analytical abilities it can be difficult to produce a high quality dissertation. This blog posts reviews the top five essay writing companies in the UK. So if you ever find yourself in need of getting your work done by an expert academic or want your work to be edited and improved to the required quality standard, simply choose a company that is reliable and professional.
Research Prospect Pvt Ltd
Research Prospect ltd has emerged as the leading UK based dissertation writing service in recent times. The company employs highly experienced academic writers from almost all academic disciplines so you can be confident that your dissertation will be written to the required quality standard. With their business being registered in the UK, you will be protected by the UK consumer law. This means that you will be able to claim refund in case the quality standard of work provided to you does not meet your expectations. Research Prospect’s experienced and trained client support team responds to your emails within 20 minutes and their ordering system is very quick and straightforward.
The UK based essay writing business is offering the most competitive prices (per 1000 words) in the UK essay writing market. Their 10 point guarantees is nothing less than icing on the cake.
Ivory Research Ltd
Ivory Research has been helping students to achieve their desired academic grade for the last many years. The company is however owned by a Ukrainian lady who occasionally visits the UK. Ivory Research has a large customer services team and the infrastructure to efficiently deal with student inquiries. Just like Research Prospect, all their writers are UK qualified.
UKEssays is undoubtedly the largest essay writing company in the UK with their presence dating back to 2006. However, their priorities incline more towards money making rather than providing help to students. Their prices are known to be the highest in UK essay writing industry. Moreover, it is unclear how they hire their writers and what payment rates are they offering to them. Many students have shared their frustrations with them on social media.
Other than Research Prospect, Ivory Research and UK Essays, there are various small and unregistered essay writing businesses who claim to be based in the UK but in reality they are foreign owned and foreign operated so my advice would be to stay away from such companies. Spending some extra pennies at the first place can save you a lot of trouble at a later stage. Minimise risk of being done by fraudsters especially when you are paying for your essays or dissertations upon which your future hangs.
What is a Robot?
According to Oxford Dictionaries, a robot is “A machine capable of carrying a complex series of actions automatically, especially one programmable by a computer”. (Oxford Dictionaries, 2012)
What is a “Robot Arm”?
Oxford Dictionaries states that, “A machine resembling a human being and able to replicate certain human movements and functions automatically”. (Oxford Dictionaries, 2012)
The target was to build and develop a robotic arm that could move just like a human arm. But a grabber will be used instead of metal fingers, to resemble fingers of a human hand. There is a difference though. This arm will not be automated unlike most robots. The arm will be programmed to respond to inputs given to it by various HIDs, making it live and user- friendly.
Most robotic arms such as the Canadarm (Canadian Space Agency, 2011), Neuroarm (neuroarm, 2012), Dextre (Canadian Space Agency, 2011) are highly sophisticated and are very expensive to build. Of course, they were built for purposes of the same caliber but the intention of the proposed project is to build an arm that is cheap, relatively easier to build/develop and is user friendly. Is it possible? Is there any need for building a robotic arm like this in the first place? The answer would be “yes” for both. For the latter, the answer is simple.
What uses would a manual controlled robotic arm would have?
An arm like this can be used as a demonstration tool for students who are studying robotics, to show them how the movements are synchronized, how each servo responds, to specific codes and to make them enthusiastic about their subject with an actual robot in their presence.
Plus, as a machine always does, such a structure can be used in situations where humans find it too extreme to involve such as working with biohazard chemicals or at a construction site (in large scale) and so on.
Is it possible?
It is possible indeed to build such a machine. But the trick is to try and make it mimic the movements of a human arm. In other words, the arm should have 6DOF (6 degrees of freedom). That is the ability which is very similar to a human arm.
How is it possible?
After many hours of studying various sources and other sample documents it was found, what was needed to be done and from where to begin the project from. Those objectives are mentioned below.
Objectives / Milestones
What are the knowledge resources?
The project requires many hardware appliances. Feasibility of using such materials will be discussed later. The main body of the system the whole “controlling the arm” depends on the Arduino Prototyping Platform. This piece of electronic platform is equipped with a micro controller which holds the program that is embedded to it and runs it when required. Many resources are available to study about Arduino. As to the programming aspects of the project, Arduino hosts its own website that helps new programmers with plenty of learning materials and tutorials. Plus, the Arduino forum, and the Arduino wiki, otherwise known as the “Arduino Playground” helped a lot in understanding the programming language and other areas of study regarding the Arduino. This forum helps in assisting Arduino users seek expert knowledge from professional industrial software engineers, experienced programmers, hobbyists and even professors from reputed universities.
What is Arduino and why?
There are a few platforms that could be used to develop the program for a robotic arm. Two most famous of them are the Arduino and the Parallax’s Basic Stamp Boards. But it was decided to use the “Arduino” platform. As mentioned above, Arduino is an Open Source Electronics Prototyping Platform. One reason to use this platform is because, apart from this project the Arduino platform can be used to conduct other projects of which some are mentioned in the next paragraph. The other reason was obviously the vast amount of help that can be obtained from Arduino users all around the world. Still, it was only known that Arduino has its own IDE and that it’s possible to manipulate the hardware of the arm with proper programing, but the methods and coding were not known.
It was later found out that apart from Arduino IDE, another IDE, “Processing” (Processing.org) was also needed as a method of sending signals to the Arduino for a different phase of the project.
Both platforms are Open Source hardware and software components on which various electronic and software projects can be carried upon. Ability to manipulate Home Automation Systems, RFID Systems, Vehicle Telemetry Systems and Fire/Burglar Alarm Systems are just a few of their capabilities. The Arduino IDE is highly based on the Processing IDE. Both platforms are based on Java, and the language is “C” but it is customized for easier use.
Anatomy of a Robot - Charles M Bergren (2003)
In his book, Bergen states that “Love, joy, creativity, heartbreak, grief, and ruin all lurk to snare us as we move forward in this endeavor. And passion makes it all possible! Personally, I feel it’s just as important to understand why I’m doing these things as it is to actually do them. I am old enough to realize that I will never fully understand my motives, nor should I. If I really found out exactly why I liked this field, the fantasy would probably be gone and I’d have to move on to something else.” (Bergen C. M., Project Management, 2003)
As Bergen said, the reason for choosing such an area for the final project is out of pure passion towards the field of electronics, software engineering and robotics combined. This book obviously does not teach anything about Arduino Platform or how to use it, but it discusses what project management techniques should be taken into account when designing and building a robot specifically.
Software Project Management for Dummies – Teresa Lucky & Joseph Phillips (2006)
Here, Teresa and Joseph, defines a project as, “temporary endeavor to create a unique product or service” (Lucky & Phillip, 2006).The word unique is what out stood here. The project is indeed a unique one because it is (no offense is intended here) not a conventional software or a website. This “endeavor” is to create the unique product of a robotic arm that could be controlled manually. It does involve bits of programming yet it is for an entirely different scenario. This book will be a massive insight into the techniques followed in project management, guiding this project in the right way.
Robot Builders Bonanza - Gordon McComb & Myke Predko (2006) – 3rd Edition
“Robots without arms are limited to rolling or walking about, perhaps noting things that occur around them, but little else. The robot can’t, as the slogan goes, “reach out and touch someone,” and it certainly can’t manipulate its world. The more sophisticated robots in science, industry, and research and development have at least one arm to grasp, reorient, or move objects. Arms extend the reach of robots and make them more like humans”. (Gordon & Myke, 2006)
As McComb and Predko have slightly hinted out, a robot without an arm is quite not a robot. Complex and most advanced robots in the world today mostly comprises of robot arms since they have much commonality towards humans and how humans operate in the real world, making them utterly important and of significance.
This book truly is a bonanza for robot builders since it teaches probably almost everything required to be known in robotics from ground up. It surely will be a great source to help me understand how a robotic arm is designed and how it operates.
The following section provides an insight to robotic arms and its movements, illustrated from Robot Builders Bonanza.
According to Predko and McCombe, there are mainly four types of robotic arms.
All these four basic robotic arm types have 3 degrees of movement. In other words, all these four basic types have the ability to bend and turn at three different points in the arm. Much similar to a human arm, but the human arm has seven degrees of freedom. 3 at the shoulder (pitch, yaw and rotate), 1 at the elbow and again 3 at the wrist (pitch, yaw and rotate).
Pitch – up & down movement
Yaw – Sideways movement (left & right or forward & backward)
Roll – Circular movement
Figure 1 : Revolute Coordinate Arm (McComb & Predko, Revolute Coordinate, 2006, p. 467)
Give it a try
A person is able to move his/her shoulder in a pitch movement, a yaw and it is also possible to roll a shoulder like screwing a light bulb. Same can be applied to the wrist. But the elbow can only work one way, just the pitch.
Revolute Coordinate Arm
This arm is very famous among hobbyists since it’s very much similar to a human arm. The arm used for the proposed project is also quite similar to the movements to a human arm, except that it is made out of metal rather than muscle. The arm illustrated above can be turned around from its base like bottle cap. Plus from the same joint, the pitch movement can also be accomplished leaving the elbow with the same movement type. The complete movement area
/ capacity of the arm (work envelop) is limited to half a sphere.
Polar Coordinate Arm
This too acquires a half spherical work envelope. Polar Coordinate Arms are often used in the industrial level. Just as Revolute Coordinate Arm, Polar Coordinate can move around from its base. The elbow adds another degree of movement as usual. The third degree of freedom is accomplished by moving the forearm of the robot forward and backward to bring the gripper (or wrist area/finger area) closer towards and from the shoulder.
Cylindrical Coordinate Arm
Both Revolute Coordinate and Polar Coordinate Arms are able to operate in fixed, half spherical environment. Cylindrical Coordinate has the ability to move, as the name suggests, in a cylindrical manner, in a three dimensional environment. Movements are basically the same as the Polar Coordinate Arm, except for the additional ability to move vertically.
Cartesian Coordinate Arm
This is probably the farthest with comparison to a human arm. Cartesian Coordinate arms unlike Human Arms, Revolute Coordinate Arms, Polar Coordinate Arms and Cylindrical Coordinate Arms has the ability to move away from the shoulder point. It has no rotation joint but works much like the function of conveyor belt. This arm can move upwards and downwards much similar to the Cylindrical Coordinate Arm, plus back and forth via the provided track.
Getting Started with Arduino – Massimo Banzi (Co-founder of Arduino) (2009) – 1st Edition
This book was really useful to study the Arduino Platform. It explains everything from simple programs that control the blinking of an LED to controlling actuators while getting sensory information from electronic items like infrared sensors or heat sensors. This book was chosen mainly because it was written by one of the co-founders of the Arduino. But the knowledge gathering on programming with Arduino was not limited only to this book. Many websites were used to extract information on how to use the Arduino and how to program it. Some are mentioned below:
Bergen, C. M. (2003). Project Management. In Anatomy of a Robot (pp. 1-2). McGraw Hill.

International students endure a lot of stress because of their constant struggle to get good grades. Scoring good grades mean a great deal to them as they have moved to another country solely for receiving quality education. Their families and friends back home have a lot of expectations of them, and therefore the fear of failure forces them to work harder in order to perform better at college or university. However, they usually face a lot of problems in essay writing projects despite of their hard work. Language limitations and inexperience are the two main causes to their poor performance in essay writing. Are you struggling with you essays writing assignments? If Yes then trust you are not alone. Thousands of students have to deal with this phenomenon every year and this is the point where you must decide whether you should obtain help from a professional student writing service. Nonetheless, the common causes to international students’ inability to write well rounded essays are discussed below.
Difference in Teaching Styles
Sometimes it happens so that students are used to the style of teaching followed by their native country’s institutions, and when they come across a completely different style of teaching in their host country they struggle to adopt it. This can result in poor understanding of concepts, which can then reflect in students’ academic writing.
This problem is common among students whose first language is not English. Such students may find it hard to read, understand and write in English, and therefore they are unable to write high quality and well-rounded essays with their weak writing skills. The problem can be eliminated if appropriate English language courses are planned and offered to them, so they can learn the skills and techniques to improve their academic writing.
If a student is experiencing extreme work load then he or she might lack the energy and time to produce a high quality essay. International students already are under a lot of stress due to the financial constraints and nostalgia issues, whereas a good piece of writing demands the writer to have sufficient time and a relaxed mind. If a student remains busy all day long with little rest then he/she might compromise on the essay’s quality by plagiarizing it or simply using poor English.
Limited support by the supervisor
Sometimes it is not the fault of the student but of the supervisor that leads to poor academic grades. Limited support from the supervisor can leave a student confused and disoriented. With his or her own limited understanding a student would produce a poorly written essay. Therefore it is suggested that the supervisor should review the write up on time and provide specific guidance and instructions related to it.
Fear of Meeting Deadlines and Other Limitations
Fear of meeting the deadlines can force international students to write their essays in a hurry which in turn can make them miss out some of the important points that should have been addressed in the content. Other limitations like the word count limit can also keep them from expressing their point of view. Some people find it rather difficult to express their opinion or to justify their arguments with limited word count because they have to be more specific and have to choose the most appropriate words in their writing to correctly express themselves. Therefore writing concisely can act as a challenge for some students.
My advice to international students to seek help from a student support service in a timely manner. Many international students would end up using professional essay writing service in UK to achieve high academic grades but I would leave that decision to you.
